Rejection

HERE'S A BLOG I HAVE WRITTEN 5 YEARS AGO...

"I'm sorry but you're not good enough."

"This is not the place for amateurs like you."
"You are not what I'm looking for."
"Is that the best thing you can do?"
"It's over."
"Get lost."
"No!"

Ever heard these lines?

It hurts A LOT to be rejected. It hurts even more when it comes from a person or a group of people you trust with your life. But rejection is NOT equivalent to the end of the world; it can even be the start of something new.
Well, we all know for a fact that everything and everyone we look up to came from somewhere. Take for example the famous OPM band: the Eraserheads. I came up writing this blog entry because of them, because of their story of how they became the legendary band of the Philippine Music Industry. Their road to success was not a walk in the park; they too had their share of rejection from a lot of people.
The members of Eraserheads never really dreamt of becoming famous, they just wanted to write songs and play their music. Basically, they just wanted to have some fun and offer something unique to others. But during their time, being unique was not called for. The industry they were trying to enter was looking for commercial music, not some underground, punk rock. They were rejected; they were not wanted, but look at the history they had made with OPM!
My point therefore, ladies and gentlemen, is that being rejected is all part of a greater plan God has for you. There can be miracles when you believe (yeah, I know, it's part of a song). Ely Buendia, Raimund Marasigan, Marcus Adoro and Buddy Zabala experienced a miracle because they were asked to audition for Club Dredd (that started their career) when they were already disbanded. Talk about fate! Well, they could have disregarded the idea but they still pushed through with it because that's what they really wanted.
Greatness is inside all of us since we are created in the image and likeness of God, but we still have the free will given to us. We have the choice to continue or to stop after getting rejected.
It's not always about being at the right place at the right time, but it's also about having the right perspective on things like rejection and failure. If you view it as the end, then it's really over, but if you view it as a challenging road you have to take in your road to fame, then you'll be determined to finish the race because you have a goal in mind.

    Some tips in life:
       1. Know what you really want in life and pursue it.
       2. Have a vision for yourself.
       3. Get to know yourself better. Get to know God even better.
       4. Never give up.
       5. If you don't have a life, get one.

I might not be as credible as other famous and successful people out there when it comes to achieving goals in life because I'm not really famous or successful yet, but I do have a life that I'm trying to live out and I too have my nasty experiences on rejection and failure. It's when I make mistakes that I learn best and what good are learnings if I don't share it, right? Thus, I write to you this blog. Thank you reader for reading this and the next time you get rejected, think about this blog and the message you got.

Rejection

Everyone gets in but you were thrown out
Now all you feel about yourself is doubt
You felt unwanted and very insecure
You used to want it but now you're unsure

It does hurt to be thrown out just like that
Others are making you feel like a filthy rat
All you wanted was a bit of their attention
But what you get in return is nothing but rejection
