Being in full time ministry is a privilege.
Sometimes people think that God needs help and they are the answer to that need for more workers in the harvest field. "If I don't answer the call now, how will God ever build His Kingdom?" Silly thought, isn't it? But people do think that way. We want to know that we are special, that we are needed. Here's the truth: God DOES NOT NEED you and me. That's right, He does not need us.
So why bother "helping" build God's Kingdom?
Here's the beauty about God's awesome plan of salvation for His people: HE ALREADY DID EVERYTHING. Jesus already said: "It is finished."
We're just here to share the GOOD NEWS.
Why won't God just create a megaphone for all the people on earth to hear about this GOOD NEWS?
He wants to share the privilege to us of being part of this task.
Now, do I need to be in full time ministry to do that? No.
So why do people go into full time ministry? It's a choice.
That's the hard part: CHOOSING. Because when we choose, we think the responsibility of getting results of that choice is on our hands, but it is not.
Remember what Paul said? "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God makes things grow."
We just have a part to play. God could have chosen another person to play that part, but He chose you for it.
How will we know which part is for us? We choose. The important thing is we contribute to the Great Commission.
Know where you will be fruitful. How will you know if it's in full time ministry or in the marketplace? Pray to God, choose and just do it. Faith without action is dead (anything that is dead will not be fruitful, right?).
I thank God for the privilege of being able to do my part in sharing His wonderful news to His people. Will you do your part as well? :)
